Steve Bean, PA

A native Knoxvillian, Steve has been with Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic since 1977. He completed the Orthopaedic Physician Assistant Program at Chattanooga State with Highest Honors. He has served as president of the American Society of Orthopaedic Physician Assistants and on the National Board for Certification of Orthopaedic Physician Assistants. He has served as an appointee to the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners Committee on Physician Assistants. He routinely evaluates and treats injuries to the extremities and provides continuing care for arthritis patients. He is based primarily at our Old Weisgarber Road location.

Matej Bosnjak, FNP-BC

Since 1995 Matej has worked in multiple emergency/trauma departments, critical care units, and flight nursing. He received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Niagara University and his Master of Science in Nursing degree from Carson-Newman University. Matej became a nurse practitioner to help foster the health and wellness of patients by providing encouragement, education, and high quality care. After immigrating from Croatia in 1974, his father joined the U.S. Army and the family became U.S. citizens. Matej has lived all over the U.S. and Europe. He followed in his father's footsteps and was commissioned in the Army Nurse Corps after graduating from college. After six years of military service, he was honorably discharged as a Captain. Matej made Tennessee his home in 2007. He thoroughly enjoys the vast array of outdoor activities offered by East Tennessee, including hunting, fishing and hiking. He has three children who help him and his wife rescue, foster and re-home German Shepherds.

Richard Capo, PA-C

Richard’s love of medicine started on a humanitarian trip to Bolivia. Since then, he's always been passionate about helping the injured. He enjoys helping patients regain function in order to perform the activities they love. Richard received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas and his master’s from the University of Nebraska. He also proudly served in the U.S. Army for 21 years. In his free time, Richard loves biking, hiking, traveling and photography, in addition to spending time with his children and granddaughter.

Brandon Fickey, PA-C

Brandon was born and raised in Knoxville, and played tennis for the University of Tennessee. He earned his master’s degree from South College. He wanted to became a PA to promote health and wellness in his community. Brandon describes his job as a collaborative member within a highly trained and specialized team of orthopaedic providers striving to provide the highest quality of care to patients. He really enjoys helping people return to their pre-injury hobbies and interests. When he’s not working, Brandon enjoys running, golfing, and spending time with his wife and dog.

Amy Grace, PA-C, EMT-IV

After receiving her degree from the University of Tennessee with a major in exercise science, Amy pursued additional training to become a certified Emergency Medical Technician. In 2012 she completed her Master’s of Health Science Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from South College. She has worked as a personal trainer, student athletic trainer, physical therapy technician, and emergency medical technician. Amy’s desire to have a career where she could combine these experiences and make a difference in the lives of others by providing compassionate care led her to begin work at KOC in 2013. She is a member of the Tennessee Academy of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants. When Amy is not working, she loves spending time with family, friends, and her two chocolate labs. She enjoys music and the outdoors, especially boating on Norris Lake.

Hannah Hartman, PA-C

Hannah grew up in Knoxville and attended UT for her undergraduate degree in microbiology. She earned her master’s degree from Lincoln Memorial. She works with KOC’s hand surgeons in the clinic to create a treatment plan for patients that will improve their quality of life. Hannah enjoys meeting new people and learning new things. When she’s not working, you can find her traveling, running, or spending time on the lake with her husband and golden retriever.

Robert Hawkins, APRN-BC

Robert is a nurse practitioner with more than 30 years of experience in the operating room, emergency room, and orthopaedic clinic. An active child, his first trip to an orthopaedist sparked an interest in studying human anatomy and the musculoskeletal system. Robert enjoys meeting his patients from all walks of life and helping them regain pain-free function. In his spare time, he enjoys mountain biking, weight training, and walking his family’s dachshund around the park.

Katelyn Holt, MSPAS, PA-C

Originally from Paris, Tennessee, Kate received her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and earned her Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from South University in Savannah, Georgia. Her love for Knoxville brought her back after she graduated. Kate loves being a part of the medical team at KOC and seeing patients get back to the activities they love. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. For fun, Kate enjoys spending time with her husband, Tyler, and their two dogs. She loves being with family and friends, doing anything outdoors, cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals, and going to Tennessee football games.

Jeff Jarnigan, PA-C

Jeff is a physician assistant originally from East Tennessee. He had a life-changing experience in California years ago when he helped an elderly woman who was choking. Since then, he always wanted to pursue a career in medicine so he could help people for a living. He attended Augusta State University in Georgia for his undergraduate training and completed his Physician Assistant degree at South University in Savannah. Jeff is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Tennessee Association of Physician Assistants. Jeff currently works with Dr. Spencer in our Shoulder and Elbow Center. Not only does he see patients in the clinic, he also assists Dr. Spencer in the operating room and is involved in research. He and Dr. Spencer pride themselves on giving above-standard care and informing all of their patients about what to expect before, during, and after surgery. Jeff lives in Knoxville with his wife Rebecca and their three sons. He enjoys golfing, fishing, and snow and water skiing.

Cassy Loucks, PA

Cassy was born and raised in East Tennessee. She received her undergraduate degree at Middle Tennessee State University. She then went on to earn her Masters in Health Science at the University of South Alabama and has been working as an orthopedic physician assistant ever since. She enjoys being part of the shoulder team both in clinic and assisting Dr. Holloway in the operating room. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family cheering on the Vols, being on the lake, and working out.

Ben Morgenegg, PA

Ben has had a passion for the medical field since childhood. He had the opportunity to make a career change later in life and found the physician assistant track was the perfect fit. He received his Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from South College in Knoxville and has been working at KOC since 2014. He enjoys all aspects of his job, whether educating patients in the clinic or assisting a surgeon in the operating room. In his free time, Ben loves doing anything outdoors – cycling, hiking, camping. He’s happily married to his wife Beth and they are the proud parents of four children. His church family and community are a big part of his life as well.

Barry Perkins, PA-C

A veteran healthcare provider, Barry has long felt a call toward patient care and has enjoyed working with people in a number of medical settings. He earned his undergraduate degree from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville and a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska in Omaha. Barry has been a Certified Physician Assistant for more than 20 years. For 10 years, he served as a Captain in the Medical Specialty Corps of the US Army Reserve. As part of the KOC team, Barry manages the Injury Clinic at the Fort Sanders West location. He especially enjoys interacting with patients and offering a high quality of care at a time of day when that's difficult to find. Barry and his wife Ellen live in Maryville with their youngest son Zachary. Their oldest son, Lance, lives in Knoxville with his family. In his leisure time, Barry enjoys fishing.

Landon Prather, PA-C

Born and raised in West Tennessee, Landon earned his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and Wellness in his home town at the University of Tennessee at Martin. He then pushed on to receive a Master of Science in Physician Assistant studies at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Landon first lived in Knoxville during his clinical year in which he trained at UT Medical Center. Shortly after graduation he accepted a job in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, working in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Reconstruction. After two and a half years living away from his home state of Tennessee, he decided it was time to come back. He is now on Dr. Botero's team at Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic working in hip and knee replacement. In his leisure time he enjoys mountain biking, watersports, and watching all Tennessee Volunteer sports.

Deborah Russell, NP

Deborah works with Dr. Craig as a nurse practitioner specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation. She loves taking care of people and has worked in the medical field since 1994. Deborah first became a licensed practical nurse, then a registered nurse, then received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, and finally her Master of Science in Nursing to become a certified family nurse practitioner. Her goal is to help her orthopaedic patients become free of pain and get back to their daily activities. She wants to make sure they can live their lives to the fullest. When she’s not working, Deborah enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, and riding in the mountains.

Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Hannah was an ER nurse at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital for 10 years. She received her Masters of Science in Nursing from Carson-Newman University. She enjoys being able to provide hands on treatment and relief to her patients. When she’s not working, Hannah likes to travel and spend time with her husband, their daughter, and their dog.

Kevin Schoonover, PA

Kevin graduated from Knoxville Catholic High School and then earned his undergraduate degree in exercise science from UT Chattanooga. He went to PA school at Barry University in Miami Shores, FL. He enjoys helping people by finding the correct diagnosis and treatment plan for them. He doesn’t want his patients to leave with more questions than answers. In his spare time, Kevin likes to golf, fish, camp, and travel with his family.

Corinne Strayer, CPNP

Corinne is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner originally from Ohio. She earned her BSN from the University of Akron and her MSN from the University of Tennessee. She treats pediatric patients with sports injuries, fractures, painful joints, and growth and development concerns. She works with young athletes to get them healthy and back to their sport as quickly as possible. Corinne cares for her patients and their families with the goal of answering their questions and easing their concerns. When she’s not working, Corinne enjoys reading, watching football, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Brandi Wilson, FNP-BC

Brandi is a nurse practitioner working with KOC’s spine surgeons. Originally from Sevierville, she graduated from UT with a degree in nursing and then got her master’s at Carson-Newman. She has a background in emergency room and surgical nursing. In addition to evaluating new spine patients in the office, Brandi assists the team in coordinating their care and educating them about their diagnosis and treatment options. She enjoys being able to spend time with her patients in order to fully explain the problem and answer their questions. In her free time, Brandi likes to kayak, try new restaurants, and relax with friends and family. Brandi is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the North American Spine Society.

Tammy Womack, MPH, OPA-C

Tammy began her career as an orthopaedic physician assistant more than 20 years ago at Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic. She came to KOC after completing her bachelor’s degree in supervision and training and her master’s degree in public health administration at the University of Tennessee. She earned her Orthopaedic Physician Assistant degree from Kirkwood College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Tammy serves as treasurer for the National Board for Certification of Orthopaedic Physician's Assistants. Tammy is married and has two daughters. In her spare time, she enjoys mountain climbing, hiking, and gardening.
