KOC Now Offering Body Composition Analysis

Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic has expanded its patient-centered services by offering body composition analysis, including total body fat percentage, muscle mass and bone density.
With just a five-minute scan, the assessment offers details about lean mass distribution and visceral fat by body region. Whether you’re looking to drop pounds without losing muscle mass or want to boost your athletic performance, a body composition report provides more comprehensive insight than body fat scales or Body Mass Index (BMI).
Instead of just estimating body fat, the non-invasive scans use Dual-Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) technology to measure how much of your total weight is lean mass, what percentage of your weight is fat and how your individual bone mineral density compares to peak bone strength.
The scans are widely regarded as the most precise way to measure and track body composition over time.
Body composition analysis can be helpful to athletes to optimize diet and training routines and prevent muscle loss.
The scans also are used to evaluate the distribution of excess fat, particularly visceral abdominal fat, which is linked to increased risk of disorders like cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
