Sports Preparticipation Physicals Will Be May 18

On Saturday, May 18, Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic will offer preparticipation physical evaluations (PPE) for incoming high school freshmen through senior athletes. The cost will be $10, payable by either cash or check to KOC.

Evaluations will be held from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. at KOC’s West Office location at 260 Fort Sanders West Blvd., and the North Office location at 7750 Dannaher Drive. High schools have pre-set times to visit, and the schedule and office locations are available here. Appointments are not needed.

The evaluations allow students to participate in camps and activities starting in the summer and lasting through the school year. The PPEs also meet requirements for participation set by the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA). The evaluations are not intended to replace comprehensive health assessments done by primary care physicians but will screen for common causes of injuries among young people.

KOC’s evaluations may be performed by medical assistants, licensed practical nurses, registered nurses, athletic trainers, physical therapists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, general medical physicians, family physicians and/or orthopaedic surgeons.

Participants must fill out all the necessary forms. Pages one, two and six of the physical form must be completed prior to the exam. Download the forms and view the school schedule at https://kocortho.com/preparticipation-physical-evaluations/.
