About

As the Athletic Trainer for Powell High School, Chelsea strives to embody the philosophy of “Treating the whole patient, not just their injury”. She enjoys the chaos that ensues working with high school athletes, as it encourages her to continue to grow and adapt as a professional. Chelsea’s favorite part of working with student athletes is the opportunity to have a positive impact on their lives.  For some that means doing rehab on an injury, for others it is simply being there when they need a shoulder to lean on.

Becoming an Athletic Trainer was a natural path for Chelsea, as it combined her two passions: athletics and making an impact on those around her. Chelsea attended Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and then served as a Graduate Assistant at the University of the Cumberlands where she obtained a Master of Arts in Teaching.

Chelsea continues to have a successful rugby career, which started in her time at SVSU. She currently plays with the Knoxville Minx, Gypsy Rugby International, and USA Rugby South Panthers. Chelsea believes that her unique position as both an Athletic Trainer and competitive athlete allow her to relate to her student athletes more closely as they navigate through an injury.
