I am almost 10 weeks post partial replacement of my right knee. I am at about 85% of normal knee function. I am bicycling on mountain roadways, doing normal farm work, going up and down stairs with ease, keeping regular schedule at work, playing HORSE basketball with kids, walking 5 or so miles per day, working with a personal trainer to get stronger, more flexible and more agile. I will get back to long distance hiking soon, to include LeConte when the ice melts. The knee is great. I do have an artificial left hip that did not grow in properly and will have to be replaced at some point. Overall, I am more or less back to my old active self with the left hip being the pacing variable. I think Dr. Botero and his staff did a very good job. His style of listening and giving good information was excellent. He did the partial knee--medial compartment--and preserved the perfectly good function of the middle and anterior compartments. Yea! I am looking forward to him doing the left hip revision and expect excellent results that will put me back in business with no significant pain and discomfort. I am 73.
Thanks to my care at KOC, I can now SLEEP, walk, work, hunt, fish and play golf in comfort again. Dr. Botero and his staff were a pleasure to do business with. Everyone was prompt, pleasant and helpful at all times. Appointments were always on time and Dr. Botero took as much time as needed to explain procedures. Coming from over 6 hours away, they always took travel time into consideration and scheduled everything to conveniently accommodate me. His nurse, Amber Feather, is a true professional. You can contact her by text with questions or problems and she responds almost immediately and handles anything that may come up. I have and will continue to recommend KOC and Dr. Botero and staff to anyone who has knee problems. Parkwest Hospital was excellent as well.
Thanks to my care at KOC, I can now do the routine things I used to do without pain: mow my yard, ride a bike, hike, use stairs, and walk with my wife. The knee pain had gotten so bad that the simple act of walking was becoming difficult as time progressed. We enjoyed traveling, but that had not been much of an option for the last couple of years. I'm happy to say that on January 7, 2019 (just over 3 months after my surgery, which was October 5, 2018) we enjoyed a trip to Israel. The attached picture shows us on the Mt. of Olives overlooking Jerusalem! We walked/hiked 53 miles over a seven day period. There is no way I could have done this, or even attempted this trip, prior to Dr. Nadaud performing the partial replacement. Thank you Dr. Nadaud, staff, and the KOC team for restoring the quality of my life!
I would like to thank ALL the people involved in both my surgery and recovery both at KOC and Parkwest. I am especially appreciative of Dr. Madigan for his experience and knowledge of his accurate diagnosis and skill. The pain that I was experiencing in my arm, neck and head as a result of my vertebra at level C2 C3 pressing on my spinal cord have all since disappeared with exception of the surgery which is getting better each day. I am amazed and so grateful for the medical technology we have in today's world and and the incredible dedication to learn. Thank you Dr. Madigan!!
Thanks to my care at KOC, I can walk without pain. It has been 6 weeks since my hip replacement and I am so thankful for Dr. Botero. Wonderful surgeon and takes time to talk with you. His messages on what I was supposed to do have been very helpful.
Thanks to my care at KOC, I can do anything I want! I suffered for years and finally gave in. Dr. Botero is the kindest, most caring doctor I know. He explains every detail and has more patience than Job. He sends texts every day during your recovery that are extremely helpful. I worked hard and was able to have a very quick recovery. I traveled from Orlando, Florida, as there is no one in my area that does the things Dr. Botero does. I did not stay in the hospital at all and was able to finish physical therapy in three weeks! I love Dr. Botero and his staff. He is your man if you need replacement!
Thanks to my care at KOC, I can walk normally without any pain and discomfort. I would like to take this opportunity to THANK Dr. Benson Scott for the excellent treatment I received at KOC. I had a farm accident injuring my right knee. When I arrived at KOC I could not walk normally without a lot of pain and discomfort. After a few X-rays and knee exam Dr. Scott had a game plan. About four hours after the treatment I started to feel an improvement. I had my first full night of rest in about three weeks. The following morning I could see a very noticeable improvement in my knee. After 24 hours from the treatment I have absolutely no pain or discomfort and am walking normally. I am truly impressed with the care and treatment I received at KOC. THANK YOU
Thanks to my care at KOC, I can now resume my normal daily life activities and begin training to get back to my prior active lifestyle. October of 2018 I was suddenly presented with searing nerve pain in my left hip and weakness in my left ankle. I was able to make an appointment with Dr. Madigan within 3 weeks and he quickly took action. An MRI confirmed his early assessment that my L4/5 disc was herniated. He started with a less invasive approach of a steroid spinal epidural. It had little effect so the options were to either try another epidural or fix the problem. Dr. Madigan was certain that the surgery (remove the rock off the hose) would fix my problem. December of 2018 (12 weeks after initial issue) I had surgery. In recovery I already felt better and immediately could stand without pain. Two days later I was walking around Turkey Creek with my family. I followed the therapy protocol and had minimal discomfort in recovery. I was back to work two weeks after surgery and now 10 weeks after surgery I am working with a PT to train more aggressively to get back to cycling and running. Throughout the process, Dr. Madigan and the KOC team were professional, friendly, thorough, and willing to answer all of my many questions. Dr. Madigan and KOC team, you are my heroes!
Thanks to my care at KOC, I have been able to continue to be active since 2000. Doctor Betcher is simply the best doctor I have ever met. He performed knee surgery for torn meniscus for my right knee in 2000 and for a similar thing in my right knee in 2016. At 58 years old, I was able to play with my son's recreation league basketball team this past season. What a blessing to be able to do that and without the help of Doctor Betcher and his support staff, it would not have been possible! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Dr. Botero did an absolutely terrific job with my total hip replacement. The KOC clinic is top notch. The staff, the entire surgical process top to bottom, the technology, especially the results of my surgery--all flawless. The Dr. Botero partnership with KOC perfectly matched. I was completely overwhelmed and surprised how easy my surgery was...give and take a few pains here and there. I know it was a direct result of Dr. Botero's team - PA-C J. Manis and LPN A. Feather - expertise, care, concern, kindness, and most of all Dr. Botero's steadfast and unwavering leadership go beyond words. Notwithstanding, Dr. Botero's texting program for 6 weeks was so informative it guided me with any questions pertaining to: exercises, medications, physical therapy, and much more....it was like having a coach. I highly recommend Dr. Botero to anyone having this surgery!!
Thanks to my care at KOC, I can complete a two week trip/vacation throughout Texas and New Mexico to include a steep hike through Carlbad Caverns and numerous museums. Kudos to Dr. Betcher and KOC therapy staff for a quick 3 week recovery prior to vacation.
Thanks to my care at KOC, I can get back to walking and hiking. Within 3 days after a partial knee replacement with Dr. Botero, I no longer needed to use my walker for help. Within 6 weeks my rehab was finished, and now I am working out at home to make my leg stronger. I no longer have pain in my knee. I feel like it was a fast recovery. I am ready to go camping and hiking 2 months out from surgery. Thanks to everyone on the team.
