What patients say about Dr. smith

  • Thanks to my care at KOC, I can get back to life. I could not do simple daily tasks. I am young, 53. Dr. Smith replaced both knees. Athletic and bowlegged since childhood were a bad mix. I am now 3.5 months post op on second knee. So happy and pain free. I am walking three miles...three times a week now. I am beyond grateful. Life is good again. He is simply the best. I can’t recommend him enough. Thank you thank you thank you! I danced with my husband in the kitchen. First time in four years. You can’t beat that. :)

  • Thanks to my care at KOC, I can highly recommend Dr. Smith. From pre-op to post-op, Dr. Smith and his team were very informative as to the surgery process and rehabilitation. I am now 14 weeks post surgery and am enjoying a pain free new knee!
    – Ed, Knoxville
  • Thanks to my care at KOC, I can resume my daily activities and hobbies without pain. Thank you Dr. Smith.
    – Janet, Knoxville
  • Dr. Smith repaired a torn tendon in my rotator cuff through arthroscopic surgery. He started me with physical therapy three days after surgery. I had very little pain. I now (six months later) have full mobility and am building strength in that shoulder. Based on conversations with others who have had this surgery, mine has been particularly well done.

  • Thanks to my care at KOC, I can walk better and not have any pain. I fell while snow tubing and hurt my knee. I had pain for over a year and a half and had therapy to correct the problem and it never got better. Finally decided it was time for surgery. I am now 4 months out and doing so much better. I walk better than I did before the accident. THANK YOU DR. SMITH for making me better. Dr. Smith is a wonderful doctor and great bed side manner. He answered any questions my parents and myself had and always talked to where we could understand and never treated us as just a number. He cared about ME and my injury and my recovery.

  • Thanks to my care at KOC, I can WALK! I can go to aerobics class and bend my knees. I am no longer in pain. I feel I have a new lease on life. I had minimal pain during my recovery period. Am so grateful for the help I received from Dr. Smith and the KOC rehab team! I had arthritis for 7 years in both knees. My left knee was the worst, and continued to worsen over time. My job required a lot of walking. Also, my husband and I love to travel, and love to walk and sight see on our trips. Over time, cortisone shots were no longer effective. When I had been sitting, my left leg would be so stiff, it would be a long time before I could stand and walk. Friends and family would have to wait on me. Also, I was in a lot of pain. Finally, I had knee replacement surgery in February 2019. Dr. Robert Smith with KOC had been my doctor through all of this. He had been so kind and helpful. He did my surgery. He, his staff, and the KOC rehab team got me through everything successfully. I feel like I have a new life!
    – Kathie, Knoxville
  • Thanks to my care at KOC, I can finally walk around without knee pain. Dr. Smith was great in explaining every step and exactly what I needed to do after the surgery. Thanks so much to Dr. Smith and his team for a wonderful experience!
    – Sharon, Knoxville
  • Dr. Robert Smith took excellent care of my Aunt Monna. She fell and it turned out that she had a broken humerous. Since she is 78 and it was a small crack, he was reluctant to put her through the stress of surgery and a long recovery. She spent 6 weeks in a sling and per his instructions, used her arm minimally at most. She was reviewed every couple of weeks for progress and eventually got to go to therapy with Kathy who was incredible as well. She surpassed all expectations and has almost full mobility back in her arm and it healed great without the stress and expense of surgery. Dr. Smith was awesome to her at each visit. She just loved him. I truly appreciate him choosing the best option for her and taking great care of her. He was awesome.

  • Thanks to my care at KOC, I can enjoy life with much less pain than before. I have to give kudos to the nurses as they were very polite, jolly, and uplifting. I appreciated the atmosphere and all of the staff I encountered. They were down to earth and helped me feel less tense about my meniscus surgery. I experienced almost no pain during the process and 2 days after. The enrollment process was very simple and well organized from the time I got there to billing then surgery. The buzzers were a wonderful way of communicating with me and my family. I give 5 stars out of 5.
    – April, LaFollette
  • My trimalleolar ankle break in May 2019 was gruesome looking. I have the greatest respect for my surgeon, Dr. Robert Smith. Owing to excellent service in LaFollette and Knoxville, he operated on me just two days later, at the end of a long day in surgery. I knew he had pressed together the three breaks in my ankle to fit precisely in the same places as before the break, because there was no pain when I woke up the next morning! I never took a single pain pill. That's precise surgery! Dr. Smith was also friendly and businesslike in subsequent check-ups. KOC was also professional from paperwork at the counters, right up through nurses and x-ray technicians. Knoxville definitely has an outstanding facility in KOC and Dr. Robert Smith.
