B. Shane Asbury
Maryville
A Maryville native, Dr. Shane Asbury played sports at and graduated from Maryville High School, earned a bachelor’s degree in biology with honors from Maryville College and earned his Doctor of Medicine degree with honors from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. He completed an internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at the UT College of Medicine Chattanooga at Erlanger Medical Center. He currently serves as Maryville High School’s team physician.

As a general orthopaedist, he treats all manner of orthopaedic injuries and conditions. His sub-specialty interests include total joint replacement with a special interest in muscle sparing knee replacement and anterior hip replacement. He also has specialty training in the arthroscopic treatment of complex sports injuries of the shoulder, knee and hip.
Dr. Asbury is extensively involved in improving the quality of local orthopaedic care. He has served as the medical director of the Total Hip and Knee Replacement Center of Excellence since that distinction was awarded to Blount Memorial Hospital in 2012 by the Joint Commission. He also serves as the vice chief of the department of surgery.
Dr. Asbury loves spending time with his two boys, Landon and Cooper. He is an avid sports fan and in his leisure time, enjoys UT sports, particularly football and basketball.
