Brian M. Covino, M.D.

Arthritis and Joint Replacement Specialist

Dr. Covino joined KOC in 1993 upon completion of a fellowship in joint replacement and adult reconstructive surgery at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He is a graduate of Harvard University and Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr. Covino received his orthopaedic surgery training at The University of Virginia Health Sciences Center. He is the co-director of the Parkwest Joint Replacement Center. Along with Dr. Frank Gray, Dr. Covino was instrumental in developing the first local, specialized joint replacement center at the former Saint Mary's Medical Center in the 1990s.

Dr. Covino has more than two decades of practice experience and has performed thousands of joint replacement procedures. His specialty practice keeps him current with the latest surgical techniques and advances in joint replacement that promise to increase the longevity of joint implants. Dr. Covino works closely with orthopaedic implant industry leaders to develop and improve joint replacement systems.

Dr. Covino is dedicated to providing the highest level of total patient care – from diagnosis through recovery – making it a comfortable experience for both patients and their families. He uses a unique team approach in caring for his joint replacement patients. That team includes Tami Anderson, RN and Rob Hawkins, CFNP. Tami is a registered nurse with more than 25 years of orthopaedic experience and Rob is a certified nurse practitioner and orthopaedic physician’s assistant. They will discuss with patients their overall health care issues prior to treatment and educate them on what to expect during each part of the process. The team works exclusively with joint replacement patients and will be available before, during and after surgery to provide the highest quality and continuity of specialized care.

Dr. Covino's professional distinctions include being listed in the renowned directory Leading Physicians of the World, published each year by the International Association of Orthopedic Surgeons.

What patients say about Dr. covino

Thanks to my care at KOC, I can play golf again! Dr. Covino is the best. I think he can walk on water! Since my two knee replacements, I've had two holes-in-one and won the Knox Area Women's Golf Association Net Championship. Thank you Dr. Covino for my new knees!
