What patients say about Dr. botero

  • Soon after my hip replacement, I committed to a 28.3 mile hike for CureSearch (it turned out to be closer to 32 miles). Over the course of the 4 months following surgery I began walking and hiking and ended up with 360 training miles logged during that time. Early on November 10th we began our hike in honor and memory of all the kids. Our hike was on the Foothills Trail-we started in NC and ended in SC. It was an amazing experience and I felt truly blessed to be able to participate. My hip did amazing! Thanks to Dr. Botero for being a wonderful surgeon! #CureSearch-Telling Children's Cancer to Take a Hike!

  • Thanks to my care at KOC, I can walk straight without leaning forward. I was scared to death about having hip surgery...then I met Dr. Botero. He and his staff are awesome. Everyone was so kind, patient, knowledgeable...and they made me feel special. The experience from start to finish went so smoothly, (I just did water aerobics for the first time in years!) I'm almost looking forward to having my second hip done (almost). I am looking forward to being a whole new person in only a few months.
Before my surgery, I was not able to stand up straight and every time I walked, I was in pain. During my consultation, Dr. Botoro explained to me why I was in pain and also why I was bent over and explained how surgery would change my posture and gait. He even took the time to show me my x-rays as an illustration.
I was still skeptical, but everything Dr. Botero had told me - well, I have to admit, it turned out to be soooo true. The very same day of my surgery, I was able to walk down the hall - standing up straight for the first time in at least a decade...it was so exciting! Before I knew it, I was off the pain medications and shortly thereafter released from physical therapy and Dr. Botero released me without any restrictions.
I can't say thank you enough to Dr. Botero and his team. Thank you for giving me more than I ever expected.
    – Joanne, Knoxville
  • Thanks to my care at KOC, I haven't experienced any of the pain in my knee that I have I had for the last 5 years! Thanks to Dr. Botero's quad sparing technique for a knee replacement, I am exceeding my expectations at 3 weeks post op. My physical therapist is highly impressed with the quick recovery. The written information, joint class and pre-surgery exercises were a huge help. Nurse Amber was very helpful to answer any questions I had during the process. I had a positive experience in the Parkwest Hospital Surgical Center and staff was respectful and courteous. They took very good care of me. I have no doubt I will be back at work in a few weeks and feeling good as new. Thank you Dr. Botero and KOC!
    – Carla, Tellico Plains
  • Thanks to my care at KOC, I can play my grandchildren's favorite game, "Grandma, be a monster and chase us!" Dr. Botero is absolutely fabulous. I was so impressed with his knowledge that from my first appointment, I knew he was the perfect choice to perform my knee replacement surgery. I also chose Dr. Botero because of the minimally invasive technique he does. It makes sense, and I was released after just 6 weeks from physical therapy. The staff at KOC was also very friendly and helpful.
    – Kathy, Oak Ridge
  • Thanks to my hip replacement at KOC, I can have hope for my future! Dr. Botero is my hero. I was in such excruciating pain and felt like there just was no hope, whatsoever. Dr. Botero and his team are top-notch in their field. I am looking forward to my future again.
    – Renee, Crossville
  • Thanks to my care from Dr. Botero at KOC, I am pain free and completed the 34 mile Virginia Creeper bike trail. I selected Dr. Botero to do a total knee replacement because he does minimally invasive quad sparing knee replacements and spent time with me to discuss options - very patient and extremely competent. I am extremely pleased with my recovery time and my dramatically improved level of activity.
    – Gary, Crossville
  • Thanks to my total knee replacement by Dr. Botero, I can hit tennis after 14 weeks.
    – Bobby, Norris
  • Thanks to my care at KOC, I can get out of a chair pain free. My hip had been getting worse over the last 10 years. Dr. Botero replaced it and within weeks I noticed an extreme difference in my mobility and discomfort. He is a kind and calming physician with the expertise that I would trust to do the other hip when that becomes necessary. Thank you.
    – Terri, Kodak
  • Thanks to my care at KOC, I can walk without pain and get back to living life! Thank you Dr. Botero for doing an awesome right total knee replacement!! I was able to breeze thru physical therapy, walking without a cane after two weeks. The physical therapy team at Tennova North was wonderful! I felt so much better the day of surgery, I was so elated. I had bilateral partial replacements done 4 years ago. Noticed problems with walking in November that got progressively worse. Surgery was in March and I was back to work in 6 weeks. The minimally invasive surgery recovery was fantastic! I would highly recommend Dr. Botero and his great team. He is very informative, knowledgeable, and personable! I felt totally at ease before and after surgery. Thank you again for my new lease on life!
    – Roxann, Knoxville
  • Thanks to my quad sparing partial knee replacement at KOC, I can get back to farming duties. My physical therapist said I was progressing faster than he expected. I had to milk a cow and had very little difficulty if any just three weeks after surgery. Dr. Botero was very pleased to hear that and I would highly recommend him. And I was referred to him by others with the same success. I have a friend who had his hip replacement by Dr. Botero and did very well.
